Obera "The one that shines" in Guaraní language, is the second city in importance of the province.
The historical testimonies indicate the nomadic character of the natives who frequented this region, doing commercial exchange based on the economy of zapallo.
Before the arrival of the colonizadores and when other places of Misiones were colonized, by these mounts of the forgotten Yerba Viejo, the natives and the smugglers only journeyed, specially Brazilian cane dealers, those that one natives and the smugglers, specially Brazilian cane dealers, those that once colonized the Earth were a vehicle of communication essential to attenuate in something the isolation of the colonos.

Oberá will be located in the section third of this division. All the portion was denominated at first "Itched Finnish", because its population, purely Finnish, occupied the lots of the section first in 1909, the section second begins to fill in 1911 and third in 1912.

Kallsten, Magnus Sand, Conrado Falk, Juan Danielsson, Gustavo Nilsson, Joel Nilsson, to.Einar. P. Nilsson, Gustavo Andersson, Guillermo Cristhen. Immigration marks fire the history of Missions since it changes completely landscape of the province and the appearance of its people, incorporating the ideals of the cooperativismo and technical experiences made in Europe.
In Oberá descending agriculturists of immigrants arrived from Europe coexist power station at different times, having begun in 1897. After World War I an intense immigration of Germans, Swiss, English, Danish took place, who constitute 20 colectivities seated until the present time.
The 9 of Julio of 1928 Oberá is based, in a ceremony that was made under the centennial trees of the Plaza San Martín, being discovered a concise plate that "Oberá-1928" said. It was a simple ceremony that a group of natives counted on the attendance of village people and who responded to the Luciano cacique, those that interpreted music, attending in representation of the governor of the Territory of Misiones the Dr Héctor Barreyro and Atilio civil employee of the Bridge, supporting the foundation on the part of the colonos: Don Adolph Lindström and its wife Doña Diamantina.
