Argentina: Cuyo - San Luís

apital City of the homonimous province, San Luis was founded in 1594 with the name of "San Luis de Loyola Nueva Medina del Río Seco" and is located at the foot of the "Sierras Grandes" (Big Mountains) by the river Chorrillos in the area called "Punta de los Venados".
The climate is mediterranean of temperate zone, balanced all the year long with an average annual temperature of 17º C being the maximum temperature 33º C and the minimum temperature 3ºC.
The relief of this area presents mountains with different shapes and heights and, among them, great plains outstand.
There is an airport which is 7 km away from the city centre and one can also get to this place through Nº 7 National Route.
The city keeps the traditional features of the colonial style with big rambling houses, big residences, high canopies and sunny patios with an outstanding progressive and vigorous style. It offers attractions, stories and services that assure the tourist the enjoyment of San Luis richess.
Amusing walks in the city include walks along tracks with thick woods in the Centenary Park or the Park of the Nations .
A visit to the Cathedral cannot be put off. It has a neoclassical style with Corinthian columns, twin towers and a hemispherical cupola.
There are also museums such as the History Museum, the Natural Sciences Private Museum and Dora Ochoa De Masramón provincial Museum , all of them show objects that give evidence of the history, legend and important findings in the region.
Sport fishing and water sports fans can enjoy themselves in the near dams called La Florida, Luján and La Huertita.
Near San Luis, one can also enjoy the excellent thermal waters of Balde or San Jerónimo which have springs that provide one with therapeutic, reconstituent and invigorating actions.
