andil is a modern vigorous city with beautiful mountains, valleys, streams and old woods. It is situated in the southeast of Buenos Aires Province and borders on Rauch and Azul Cities to the North, with Ayacucho and Balcarce to the East, with Necochea and Benito Juárez to the South and with Azul and Benito Juárez to the West.
It is located in the region of the Humid Pampa and on the mountaineous orographic system of Tandilia that crosses it from the Northwest to the Southeast. The main feature of this area are the low mountains that make up an ideal landscape to rest at 179 meters above sea level.
The city is irregularly settled with an approximate surface of 50 km ² which is crossed by valleys that come down from the mountains to the plains until the area of Salado River.
The climate is mountaineous sub humid producing an increase of rains in the oriental slopes of the mountains with more frosts in Winter.
The annual average temperature is 14º C with maximum average temperatures of 20º C ( higher registers in January) and minimum average temperatures of 8º C. The coldest months are June, July and August.
The famous Moving Stone called " El Calvario"- visited by crowds in Easter-, Independence Park, El Centinela, El Dique and Sierra del Tigre are the most outstanding places to visit when going to Tandil.
Due to the wild environment, the city and the surroundings are ideal to enjoy adventure tourism and practise paragliding, handgliding , horse riding, hicking, cycling, walking , fourwheels motorcicle crossings, mountaineering and canoeing.
The various and varied alternatives that Tandil provides you with make the place a postcard to the visitor´s eye.  |
